Advising

In order to best support students in making the leap into the world of work, individual advising based on the Talentreport is available from the 2020/21 school year.

Thanks to financing from the Department of Economics of the State of Styria and the support of Styria’s Department of Education, it is possible for trained vocational orientation guides with knowledge of the region to help students put the results of the Talentcheck into practice.

Use what talents you possess; The woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best.” This quote from Henry van Dyke has guided my work in educational and vocational orientation and student advising for a long time. It makes me very happy that our styrian students are being given the opportunity at the Talent Center to try out and discover their various talents and to receive feedback in the form of a Talent Report. In this context, it is very important for me to integrate the professional work before and after the visit to the Talent Center into continuing education events for VO teachers and students at the University College of Teacher Education Styria.

Prof. Sabine Fritz, BEd MA,
University College of Teacher Education Styria, Departmental Director Institute for Educational Governance

I am a VO teacher and student adviser at the NMS Ilz and every year we participate in the Talent Check at the Test Center in Graz. The school community at NMS Ilz (parents, students and teachers) agreed two years ago to include the contents of this evaluation in CPT (Child/Parent/Teacher) meetings. The prerequisites for this (GDPR, etc.) are in place and so the girls and boys give their opinion on the Talent Report. Parents also give their perspective with the help of concrete questions. From the school side, the respective administrators attempt to provide a summary and bring in school-related components. This new method of evaluation has captured the interest of other schools and, of course, it is possible to get more information from me. (+43 680 2330822).
